Primary Role:

Responsible for the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of electronic communication systems, including but not limited to, Audio, Video, Theatrical Lighting, Digital Signage, DSP programming. The Electronics Systems Technician is responsible for installing and servicing the systems in the most efficient and effective manner to assure minimum down time and maximum performance.  All installations and service must meet the highest quality standards set forth by AVE, while assuring a professional and safe working environment.  The Electronics Systems Technician is responsible for customer system performance.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Respond to customers' service-related issues promptly.

  2. Responsible for final hookup of electronic equipment for new jobs.

  3. Tests and documents readings for customers' systems.

  4. Updates customer files.

  5. Troubleshoots and repairs electronic components.

  6. Responsible for handling on-call duties on a regularly scheduled basis.

  7. Trains and instructs the customer on the proper use of the equipment.

  8. Responsible for reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.

  9. Responsible for operation of the following test equipment: Volt Meter, Ohm Meter, Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer, Multimeter, and Impedance Meter.

  10. Responsible for preventive maintenance of customer equipment.

  11. Responsible for accurate tracking on time sheets, service/installation tickets, and

    inventory items.

  12. Full compliance with the company's and customers' safety programs.

  13. Research and obtain information on position-specific training opportunities.

  14. Actively participates in personal and professional development and maintains knowledge of current and new technologies that AVE offers.

  15. Must demonstrate mastery beyond technology in all aspects of project management.

  16. Must comply with all required licensing requirements.

  17. Other duties as required or assigned by company management.

 

AUDIO

  1. Mixing Consoles – knowledge of high-end analog and digital consoles (Allen & Heath, Digico, Yamaha, etc.) including ability to train on navigation and functionality.

  2. Effects processors – knowledge of compressors, delays, limiters, reverb, feedback eliminators, and gates, with the ability to train customers.

  3. Mics – understanding of microphone types and proper placement for various uses (live or recording).

  4. DSP Programming – proficient in programming of DSP processors and related controllers (Rane, Symetrix, Q-Sys, BSS, etc.).  Related certifications.

  5. RF Analysis – use of software to troubleshoot and/or set up wireless systems, understanding of RF frequency management and deployment.

  6. System tuning – use of software to analyze and tune loudspeaker systems with EQ, delay, and levels.

 

VIDEO

  1. Video Systems – ability to perform setup and troubleshooting of switchers, scalers, scan converters, DA’s, video over IP and RF, camera systems, camera controllers, switching, firmware upgrades, etc.

  2. Digital Signage – knowledge of setup and configuration.  

  3. Knowledge in optics, lenses and cameras; operations, installation and functionality in different settings

 

LIGHTING

  1. Lighting console navigation and knowledge of DMX (universes, cabling and termination, addressing and distribution). 

  2. Light Focusing – proficient in focusing theatrical lights for a stage setting using basic principles.  Understanding of fixture types and lamp types.

  3. ETC Certification desired.


Networking/IT

  1. Network switches, networking, remote access, and VPN – Good understanding of IP networking, remotely accessing off-site networks, including via a VPN.

  2. Remote connectivity and DSP programming control.

 

Leadership and Managerial

  1. Client Training: ability to train users with limited AV experience.

  2. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  3. Availability for some After-Hours and Emergency Support

  4. Seeks out leadership training and situations

  5. Job site conflict resolution between client and AVE or other contractors


 

OTHER

  1. Preventative Maintenance of customer equipment and systems (ex. Clean projector filter, replace Projector lamp, firmware updates).  Responds to customer’s service-related issues promptly.

  2. Project drawings and documentation - Responsible for reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints

  3. Meets installation deadlines.

  4. Maintains professional image and builds good customer relationships.

  5. Updates customer files.  Works with Design Engineer and Project Manager to maintain as-built drawings.

  6. Works with Project Manager to ensure that customer has sign-off on completed project and that user manuals are organized and delivered.

 

Accountability:

The Electronic Systems Technician Level 3 will be accountable to the Project Manager and Lead Technician. Secondary accountability will be to the other management team members, employees and customers of the company.

 

 

Qualifications:

The Electronic Systems Technician Level 3 shall possess: (1) a two-year electronics degree or equivalent combination of education; (2) a minimum of 4 years of related field experience; (3) a Minnesota Power Limited Technician License; and, (4) a working knowledge of communications systems is required as well as experience leading teams and projects to successful completion.

 

Travel:

Up to 50% out of town travel required.
