Project Details: Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church
St Paul, MN
August 2007
Introduction
Shiloh Missionary Baptist, located in St. Paul MN had a vision for a worship space that could perform at their level – this level being a full gospel sound that at times can exceed 103db during the praise portion of their service. Shiloh hired AVE, Audio Video Electronics to design the acoustics, design and install the sound system, video system and stage lighting system for their church located in the heart of St. Paul, MN.
Acoustics

As AVE began to learn about Shiloh's style of worship and the proposed building design, it became apparent that acoustically AVE needed to do something different. The low frequency energy would have to be absorbed at a greater level than any previous project AVE has done. As the acoustical study progressed AVE's engineering team designed "Putnam" style bass traps that had previously been used in recording studio applications. This type of bass trap was the first time AVE had done this in a worship space. The result was a space that has a below one second reverb time across all frequency bands and is extremely friendly to the high power worship of Shiloh.
Audio

The sound system at Shiloh is matched by a great loudspeaker system. It features three Danley SH-50 full range loudspeaker cabinets in a mono center cluster configuration. There are three Bag End D18AD's 2x18" subwoofers installed in pre-formed subwoofer chambers in the stage. The system is powered by high-end Lab Gruppen amplifiers and controlled with a 40 channel Allen and Heath GL2800 mixing console.
Video

The room is also pre-wired for a future video projection and video camera system with a separate video control room to grow into in the back of the space.
Lighting
AVE also provided an expansive ETC stage lighting system that runs both house and stage lighting. The lighting system offers plenty of growth into video production and special events.
